QUESTION: Any interest in a Same Hat shirt?

Quick question for regular readers: Would you be interested in a Same Hat t-shirt?

A few people have asked about this over the years, and recently the idea stuck with me... before I go down that road, I was curious if folks would actually get one and wear it-- and what you'd like to see?

For my tastes, a white/color on a black t-shirt is probably the best, right? We wouldn't be able to use any panels/art from our favorite folks without getting permission, but it could be a type-treatment or new logo or other design by cartoonists we know. Lemme know if this is something you'd be interested in, how much you'd be willing to pay (my impulse would be to sell it as cheap as possible to cover costs and give a bunch away in contests and stuff), and I'll talk to a few t-shirt designer friends I know!

    yeah man, that would be sick! probably no more than 20 bucks though, as far as pricing.

  2. As stated on the Tumblr, I would rock one of these badboys until it disintegrates off my back! I kind of think the current logo is a nice typeface and you could reverse the colours (orange text/black tee). I'm sure whatever you and Evan come up with would be rad so I'll leave it in your capable hands.
    As for price, I've bought a few t-shirts from other US sources and normally paid somewhere in the $20-30 mark, including postage to good ol' Blighty, so anywhere in that region would be sweet.

  3. I'd get one for sure! Maybe with some Kago inspired artwork on it? You've got a bunch of artists at your disposal, right?

  4. Yes, please! I would love a SH tee!!!
    25$-30$ should be an OK price I believe.

  5. I would love to see a Same Hat shirt come to fruition.

    While I would personally prefer a black-on-orange color scheme (don't know why, but I've always associated these colors with Same Hat). I would love to see what kind of design this could offer.

    Personally, I think a $15-$25 price point wouldn't be too bad at all.

    And, of course I'd pre-order the sucker if given the chance, heh.

  6. If anything Kago or Junji Ito is involved, count me in.

    Just make it college-student-budget affordable, please ;3;

  8. it would be cool. any way we could vote on designs later or something? or did you not have that in mind...? i always wonder how uniqlo keeps their t-shirt costs so low. maybe it's something worth looking into. but...now that i think about it, maybe they're able to order a much higher quantity than your average joe to get a price cut or something.

  9. Thanks for all the feedback, everybody! It's good to get a sense of how many folks would actually want one, since I think the main thing driving cost is economies of scale-- aka, the more we order in a print run the better per-shirt printing cost I can muster...

    To Lamar's question, I think I would have 2-3 designs up for consideration -- gonna be talking to DeForge and SEIBEI soon about some ideas I have -- and then have the community vote/weigh-in to decide which one to go with. I think for now, it will have be just one colorway and one design, but if it goes well maybe I can do other stuff next year.

    I can't imagine it would be more than $25 at most, but I will shoot to get it cheaper than that for sure.

    Yes please!

    Hopefully there'd be some available in smaller/women's sizes?
    Whatever you guys come up with would be awesome, as long as I can display SAME HAT! loud and proud on the shirt.

    Into it. I was gonna hope for Deforge, but then you went and already mentioned him, so I guess everything's dope.

    I'm gonna feel dumb wearing a shirt that says "Same Hat" in public though. I can imagine the stupid questions already.

  16. Yes. Hopefully the shipping doesn't kill me.

  17. definitely interested!

  18. I'd buy a shirt for sure

  19. It would really depend on the design. I can't really see white text on a black shirt being something i'm interested in unless the typeface is really remarkable. A bad ass image would certainly help but who knows?

  20. i`d buy one. you should ask kago..

    If there's some kind of Kago design, I can pretty much guarantee that I'll buy it at any price. I'd still be interested even if it's just the Same Hat logo or something, but not quite as excited.

  22. I'd get one, looking forward to seeing what design you'll go with.

  23. @Yukiko Forever: Awesome!
    @gamera666: thanks!
    @Jaclyn: Would definitely have sizes for female fans! I feel like it's 40/60 ladies/dudes in terms of readership (just a guess)
    @Azraelito: Hey dude! I will see about an original design vs. talking about licensing something from one of our favorite artists
    @Anonymous: Hahaha, does anyone actually wear hats?
    @Anonymous: Love to hear it!
    @Adam K: awesome, I will talk to DeForge soon about ideas! I think oblique is better, in a weird way
    @Brendan: Yes!
    @JE: Yes, hopefully! I can ship personally so hopefully would just be an addition of $10 to get to your part of the world
    @Stone: Glad to hear it!
    @Ryan: Nice!
    @adam: Fair points! I will start kicking stuff around. If I can get DeForge involved, dude is sorta the king of typeface and logos
    @Luca: We'll see if i can swing it!
    @Anonymous: I'll do my best!
    @Anonymous: Cool, thanks for the feedback!
    @James: thanks dude!

    I was just thinking about how awesome it would be to have a Same Hat t-shirt before the page loaded. I went to samehat.com and found this image:

    http://samehat.com/images/eatdog.jpg

    I pictured it on an orange shirt.

  30. or you could have a readers and friends submit designs. some kind of contest. @ anonimous: no orange shirt, that`s the way the SH banner looks and it looks great, but wearing orange is not as easy, especially if you live on the east coast (^_^)

  31. @Okada, Ent: I'll definitely be sure to make it accessible for Overseas folks, I can mail them myself!

    @donner: Soon!

    @anon: thanks!

    @abby: oh nice, I will be hitting up printer friends over the holiday to get things rolling

    @anon: unfortunately, that's a Sensha image so unless we license it from him/his publisher we can't use it on a shirt

    @luca: I agree, not a fan of the orange shirt though i'm stoked folks are fans of the header. I am gonna work on this over the holiday, hope to have some things by early Jan for folks to consider
