I'm back from Comic-Con and still recovering a bit from the crushing exhaustion (and accompanying sore throat) that seems to plague everyone who spent the weekend at the San Diego Convention Center. A quick round-up and pictures coming tonight! Meanwhile, I'm pleased to announce...

After debuting the book at the Last Gasp booth at San Diego, Tokyo Zombie hit local comic shops yesterday! Some enthusiastic reviews have started to pop up here and there:

Zombie Reporting Center
Neo Magazine (UK)
Daily Yomiuri Online (wow!)
Disaster Year: 20XX
PopCultureShock's Deb Aoki
Jog the Blog review and shipping day preview
Comics Reporter review [updated]
Ain't It Cool News [with a 5 page preview!]
Slightly Biased Manga
Comics Village
[Mention on Newsarama]

I would love to hear comments once people get their hands on the book. It should now be available via your local shop (or should be very soon!), and online here:
Last Gasp

PS: If one or two folks want to write a review on Amazon about the book, we would definitely appreciate it!

I'm so bummed I missed you guys! I didn't think it was possible, but it turns out it was!

I'll probably try and pick this up at a local shop, then.

I preordered this at my local comics shop, but it hasn't come in yet. I can't wait. Congratulations!

Awesome! Do you know which stores in SF are most likely to have it in stock?

I'll ask tomorrow morning in my local manga shop. I hope they can bring me a copy from the States -__-.

And by the way, Ryan, isn't "Dance! Kremlin Palace!" coming out anymore?

@joseph: Ugh, bummer we missed you! It was a really busy weekend, and went by way too quickly. Definitely see you next time! Can't wait to hear what you think about Tokyo Zombie :)

@kouros: Awesome! Thanks for checking it out, and definitely let us know what you think.

@anthony: Thanks, dude! That's a good question-- I am hoping that Comix Experience or Kinokuniya have copies, but I'm not sure yet. I'll stop by those this weekend and see if they have it.

@sick: Hope you can get a copy and check it out!

We only got two copies in at work ("Horror/indie manga doesn't sell" Maybe because we don't stock it...) and we sold out before I could get a good look at it. We've reordered it at least.

Ryan S said...

@andre: Nice! That makes me happy :)

@matthew: Sorry you didn't get to check it out, but I'm happy that they re-ordered. Re-orders are always good for the distributor to judge the health of sales, I hear. Can I ask--- in what part of the country is your store located?

In another country entirely : )
We're in Vancouver (Golden Age collectables).

I've actually had a discussion with at least one customer about your blog, and told a couple of others about it.

@matthew: Oh, that's great! I'll definitely stop by the store if I ever get the chance to visit your illustrious city again (did a spring break road trip there a few years back). I'm very flattered to hear Same Hat being recommended around-- thanks for the good word!

@adam: Nice! I am pleased to hear that you feel like you got your money's worth. Now you just have to loan it to your friends and evangelize for us :)
