This is a quick post before the weekend starts. Most of you have probably read volume two of Junji Ito's Gyo, and would agree that the bonus story The Enigma of Amigara Fault is absolutely horrifying and great. If you haven't read it, you can click here and/or pick up a copy of the Viz re-release of Gyo this Fall.
On 4chan and other imageboards, the haunting DRR DRR DRR sound effect became a faddish meme for a while, and someone created this parody; I just found it on someone's LJ this week and wanted to share the wealth.

hahaha. That's great. The original is super good. Damn.
Coincidentally, I finally read through volume two this weekend, and Enigma is now probably one of my favorite Ito stories.
I don't remember its name, but the other short story at the end of Gyo is one of my favorite Ito stories for the sheer WTF factor. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be taken seriously or not, but I laughed so hard.
Oh yeah, it was totally silly, but I love weird, super short stuff like that.
I know the re-releases of Uzumaki and Gyo by Viz will have the original, unflipped format, but are the Viz versions available right now on amazon unflipped?
Enigma was great, but the Falling scanlation ruled...
Excellent excellent manga! I loved it! The paradoy is great too :)
all: yeah, Enigma is one of my all-time favorites by Ito-- it's up there with Dying Young and some untranslated shorts.
cyphane: The versions that are on Amazon (and the ones you'd find at a used shop or perhaps on the shelves at local comic stores) are the pages that were originally serialized in Pulp (for Uzumaki) and are flipped.
The new versions are unflipped, in the standard tankobon size (which is smaller than the original releases).
It doesn't sound like a huge add in value if you already have the originals-- which, despite being flipped, are really nice and high-quality-- but for new readers they should be accessible and cool.
