SLOWLY BUT SURELY

ELECTRIC ANT ISSUE #1... COMING SOON!

This weekend we finally launched a site for our zine. We're still knee deep in layout stuff (damn you, InDesign!), but it should be off to the printers by the end of the year. Details on the full contributor list below:

We're excited that the issue is starting to come together. My plan is to sell it directly through the site, and I'm also hoping to get a few indie/zine/comics shops and distributors to carry it. We'll see! As we get closer to release, I'll post more details about the content, some web-exclusive stuff and sample pages. Will anyone actually want to buy it though? Only time will tell...

Hey Amosis,

Thanks for the interest in the zine, and for sharing your gallery. I really liked the Festa Junina 0 and Santa Luzia piece.

We're all full for the first issue, but will be planning content for Issue 2 in a few months--- Our plan is to print Issue 2 in time for Alternative Press Expo 2008 next November. I'll post next February or March about open submissions for that issue :)

In the meantime, you can be a part of our First Kiss Survey by submitting your story here:

Thanks for checking us out!

Hey Ryan, I just finally got my website online at last with some of my illustrations up. Would be very very keen on working on something for issue 2 as well if possible or collaborating with someone :D

Hey Brendan,

Thanks for sharing the gallery, and congrats on launching the site :) I'll shoot you an email next Spring when we start nailing down content for Issue 2 (assuming people like Issue 1 and it's worth doing again!)

Hey gnarlybog,

Thanks -- we're not really sure how we managed to get so many cool people on-board... now we just have to make sure it doesn't suck and let everyone down.

Glad to hear you're excited about the new Aaron K comic. It's a really crazy 15pg story called Love Entity. We'll post a few preview pages on the Electric Ant site when it gets closer.

I'm gonna check out more of your comics now-- I've been into what I've seen so far. Please definitely send me an email when we start talking about content for Issue 2 in March :)

Hey guys, dumbass question, but you guys are going to send some copies to Quimby's in Chicago, right?

Quimby's is a fantastic indie fanzine/magazine/book store in Chi-town. Don't know how else I'd get a copy of this if not for them...

Ryan S said...

hey,

Yep Quimby's is on our list of places to try to get to stock the zine. My friends Julia and Laura just did a signing there, so I'll try to ask them how you get in with the Quimby's folks... I have a list of about 15 places that are zine/indie staples in the NW, Midwest and East Coast that I'd love to have carry it...

But even if we can't get it to Quimby's we'll be selling it direct through the site and will definitely send you a copy!
Thanks for checking us out.
